Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans

What if Piccolo and Tien and Yamcha learned the Kaio-Ken from King Kai? I think it would've been cool and made sense too. Why would King Kai just teach Goku this technique and not his friends? |

1. Goku needed to learn it. Goku was there to get strong enough to beat the Saiyans. The other guys just kind of showed up, they weren't there because they had a villain to beat. 2. Maybe the kaioken isn't suited to earthling/namekian bodies? Saiyans had bodies made for combat so they should be able to handle it. 3. Kaioken is Goku's thing, can't have those pesky side characters stealing the glory

Luke said #1 and then some other stuff. #1 is most correct though. Goku was on a time limit and needed all the help he could get. He needed Kaioken in the end to fight evenly with Vegeta. Piccolo and the others were just there; probably because they needed to be stronger in case something else were to ever happen to Earth again...? [not really... turns Super Saiyan] |

They should've been able to learn it at least. Sure, it was Goku's thing and only he could master it, but as soon as SSJ came along, there was no point in using the Kaioken so the Earthlings could've at least tried to use it. |

It's a plot device power up only intended for the main character. Realistically they should have all learned it and we would have to deal with everyone being Kaioken x100 and making this super complicated. So he just said, meh ... |

I think it would have been annoying hearing piccolo yelling kaioken... If they did learn it they should just have to think it. |

Goku learned how to do it without shouting it so it's possible. Imagine they had to scream Super Saiyan to do it, that would be hilarious. |

it was never stated that they didn't learn it. as for tien, though. he did state that he planned on taking the gist of king kai's training, and combine it with his own techniques. of course, next time we see him "fight", his tribeam has been upgraded to the neo-tribeam, so that's probably what happened to the kaioken and spirit bomb in his case. as for earthlings and namekians not being tough enough to handle it. saiyan bodies aren't much different than earthling bodies, and namekians are tougher than both of them. |

Kaio-sama himself never mastered the technique...so more than likely Chaouzu/Krillin/Tien/Piccolo are unable to master this technique IMO. Only Goku showed true ability to learn the technique. |

king kai never mastered it, but that doesn't mean he never used it. he does comment that goku took it farther than anyone else did, implying that someone besides himself and goku knew the technique well enough to do it, goku was just the first to master it. |
